What to build

Integrate the Microsoft Planetary Computer / Earth Search STAC API to search and retrieve near-real-time 10-meter Sentinel-2 L2A optical satellite passes covering active fire clusters across Indonesia.

Technical specifications

  1. Target files:
    • src/lib/services/sentinel.ts: STAC API client querying collection sentinel-2-l2a.
    • src/app/api/satellite/scene/route.ts: Edge route returning latest cloud-free scene URLs (< 20% cloud cover) for a given bounding box.
  2. Parameters:
    • Date range: Last 10 days from current date.
    • Bands: True Color (TCI) and SWIR (B12, B8A, B04).

Acceptance criteria

  • Querying coordinates of an active fire returns the latest Sentinel-2 scene ID and tile endpoints.
  • Automatic fallback to Landsat 8/9 if Sentinel-2 cloud cover exceeds threshold.
